Many people don’t consider going to Ibiza for a getaway during their short Christmas holidays.

It’s true that Ibiza isn’t a traditional destination to visit during this period. However, if you’re interested in coming, it will surprise you. And not because it’s going to snow on the island.

Our first reason for persuading you to come is clear: you already have a place to stay. You can choose the luxury apartment that takes your fancy right now. It will all be set up ready for your arrival, allowing you to feel like you’re at home at this time of year.

If you’ve only been to Ibiza during the summer, when the beach, the sea and a trip to Formentera are undoubtedly the best the island has to offer, you’re going to experience a completely different Ibiza.

You’ll definitely need to rent a car. You’ll see how driving along Ibiza’s roads, passing by farmlands, blooming almond trees and green pine forests, even without the blue sea on the horizon, can be a real delight. You’ll be able to visit villages and retreats that you’re lured away from in the summer, attracted instead by the options offered during the warmer months. You can read more information in this post that we published last year (Ibiza, magia de invierno).

Get your SLR camera or Smartphone ready. These excursions around the island are perfect for seeing landscapes, walking along trails, contemplating the sea hugging a deserted beach and soaking up the real Ibiza…and for saving memories of it all in your photo album or sharing them on social media.

Like everything else that comes to an end, luckily for us, this year ends by sitting down to a fully laid table with a knife and fork in hand. When it’s a sunny day, why not eat your meal on a terrace overlooking the sea, as offered by the Hostal Talamanca? Whether it’s fresh fish or meat, it has to be done on a charcoal grill, set in a peaceful and charming atmosphere.

Head into the city when the sun goes down, with Dalt Vila illuminated by Christmas lights and the shops still open, and enjoy a glass of wine and some tapas in a bar followed by a stroll around the streets of the old town…Ibiza will welcome you with open arms, delighted that you are here.

Get ready to experience an unforgettable New Years Eve. If you’re hoping for the final night of the year to be a memorable one, we suggest that you go and celebrate at Pachá. A great vibe, good music and beautiful people are guaranteed.

You can choose whether or not to enjoy New Year’s Day in your apartment. But on 2 January, we suggest you get a Spa treatment to allow your body and mind to fully relax before you leave. We feel that Atzaró, in Santa Eulalia del Río, is a highly recommended place for this time of year.

In any case, whether you come to Ibiza or not, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and hope that it is even better than the one we are leaving behind.
